Camden Group and Rapierstar drive sustainability and manufacturing

Camden Group, the UK’s largest PVC-U window and door manufacturer, has relied on Rapierstar as its trusted supply chain partner for over a decade to ensure their products achieve top-tier fastener durability and sustainability.

The County Antrim-based window and door manufacturer emphasises using high-quality, eco-friendly materials that maximise longevity and performance. Their commitment aligns seamlessly with Rapierstar’s standards, backed by ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications.

While the importance of fastener durability may sometimes be overlooked when creating PVC-U windows and doors that stand the test of time, this is certainly not the case for Camden Group, one of the UK’s and Ireland’s leading manufacturers.

For over 40 years, Camden has been at the forefront of developing its products and today is recognised as a leader in sustainable windows and doors. Earlier this year, the company won the Sustainable/Ethical Manufacturer of the Year award at the prestigious Made in the UK Awards, an accolade that celebrated its achievements in an industry that is critical to improving the energy efficiency of housing stock and reducing carbon emissions from the wider built environment.

Sustainability has become significantly important to Rapierstar in recent years as the business evolves and responds to customers, like Camden, wishing to partner with component suppliers who can match their ambitions and align with their ESG goals.

By carefully selecting its supply chain partners and scrutinising how their products contribute to the creation of durable windows and doors, Camden Group has developed a winning product formula that installers across the UK and Ireland know they can depend on. That includes the smallest components, the fasteners, that are used to assemble every PVC-U window and door at Camden Group’s four factories across Northern Ireland.

Since 2014, the company has used Rapierstar branded fasteners throughout its PVC-U window and door manufacturing plants. These fasteners have always offered long-term durability thanks to the high-quality alloys used for their manufacture, but that is becoming an increasingly important factor as window and door manufacturers seek to maximise sustainability.

Steven Doorish, director of operations at Camden Group said: “We work extremely hard as a business to offer our customers the most sustainable choice for PVCu windows and doors, and we’ve built our reputation for providing products that, once installed, will require little or no maintenance over their service life. That requires dedication and a focus on every component, including the fasteners.

“That’s why we’ve worked with Rapierstar for many years. Their products do exactly what they say on the tin, offering excellent mechanical properties whilst been easy and safe for our operatives to use during assembly. And from a sustainability perspective, their quality means they are highly resistant to corrosion and breakages, which means we can simply fit and forget, safe in the knowledge they will perform.”

Paul McAuley, Rapierstar’s technical consultant for Ireland and Scotland added: “A PVC-U window or door is only as good as the fasteners that are used to assemble it, and the Camden Group team have always recognised this. But their focus on sustainability gives fastener longevity another dimension and we are pleased to be able to continue supporting the team to maintain consistently high quality.”
