Fensa, a major competent person scheme for the glazing industry, has appointed Phil Slinger, chief executive of Council for Aluminium in Building (CAB), to its board. The board now claims to include representation from all of the trade bodies representing framing materials in the industry.
The CAB representative joins others representing the British Woodworking Federation, the Steel Window Association and the British Plastics Federation on the board of the government-authorised scheme that monitors building regulation compliance for replacement windows and doors. Phil said: “I am delighted to join the Fensa board. Being relatively new to the industry, it’s important that CAB is represented at industry meetings and that we work with other trade organisations for the benefit of our members and the wider industry.”
Chris Beedel, Fensa’s director of membership, added: “Being the largest and longest-standing competent person scheme in the fenestration sector, Fensa has stayed as the industry’s preferred choice because of its balanced working approach with all sides of the industry. We continue to work with organisations such as UKAS [the UK’s national accreditation body] and the Federation of Master Builders, among others, for the benefit of Fensa members and homeowners.”
The collaboration and wide representation seen at board level is replicated across the Fensa community, which has more than 6,300 Fensa-approved installers across England, Wales and Scotland. Fensa’s installers range from sole traders to nationwide companies, all of which have access to benefits provided by Fensa’s external partners, for example, Fensa’s partnership with TradePoint saves installers 10% on all items across the board. Its association with Fuel Card Services means that the Fensa community can save up to 10p per litre off their fuel costs. Fensa’s range of financial partners include Improveasy, TrustShare and Take Payments, all of which aim to offer invaluable products and expertise that will help Fensa-approved installers win more work at heavily discounted rates.
Fensa’s training academy and recycling scheme are run by industry experts Total Support Training and CNC Recycling respectively. Last year, Fensa worked lead generation specialists ICAAL to launch a service that provides homeowner leads direct to installers’ inboxes for free.
Anda Gregory, the Glass and Glazing Federation’s chief development officer, said: “The culture within Fensa is one of collaboration. We work with partners and industry leaders to ensure the Fensa community has unparalleled access to experts, products and services that help their business thrive. We’ll continue to drive forward change for the betterment of our industry and our members.”
