Cornwall Group is celebrating after two of its apprentices were recognised at the 2025 Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards.
Ruby Salmon (pictured), an engineering apprentice, took home the prestigious Engineering & Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year title, while IT apprentice Josh Coopey was highly commended in the IT Apprentice of the Year category.
Both Ruby and Josh have now reached the finals of the awards for the second consecutive year, highlighting their exceptional talent and commitment to their respective fields.
“Ruby has been instrumental in developing ‘Unicorn’ – an innovative online spare parts catalogue that has transformed operations across our three manufacturing sites”, said Emma Harris, HR & Marketing Manager at Cornwall Group.
“Her dedication, technical expertise, and ability to lead projects have set her apart as a rising star in the industry.”
“Meanwhile, Josh has played a vital role in strengthening Cornwall Group’s IT infrastructure, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of technological advancements in the sector”, Emma added.
Cornwall Group was also proud to support the awards by sponsoring the ‘Workplace Mentor of the Year’ category, which it won last year, reflecting its ongoing commitment to investing in future talent and ensuring the next generation of professionals receive the guidance and support they need to thrive.
Mark Mitchell, Chairman of Cornwall Group, said: “We are incredibly proud of Ruby and Josh for their achievements at the Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards. Both have shown exceptional dedication and skill, and their contributions are already making a real difference in our business.
“At Cornwall Group, we believe in investing in the future, and our apprenticeship programme is a key part of that. Recognising and nurturing talent is essential for the long-term success of our industry.”
In line with this commitment, Cornwall Group is investing £5 million into its businesses in 2025 alone, incorporating three new state-of-the-art Glaston toughening furnaces, as well as a host of new technology, machinery, and facilities.
