Winlock Security has declared 2016 to be ‘a year of progress’, with increased sales reported in every area of its business.

The Telford based supplier of door and window hardware reports volume increases ‘across all areas and production sectors’. In particular it saw sales of UK made window handles increase by 26% in 2016, after a 3% increase in 2015. One of the best performing areas of the business has reportedly been Winlock’s own UK made window handle ranges.

Winlock attributes this rise to its new product development and service initiatives. Notably the Deltalock and Lifetime Concealed ranges (launched in Summer 2016) have been extremely well received, and the Document Q programme is said to have generated ‘enormous customer interest’.

Winlock’s MD, Alan Parker, said: “2016 hasn’t however been without complexity. The main difficulty has been the depreciation of Sterling and the consequent cost increases on many of the ranges we sell.

“Recovering all the cost increases is difficult and time consuming. Thankfully consumer confidence has held up reasonably well against this Brexit-effect, so our market volumes have remained stable. As one of the UK’s only hardware manufacturers we are also now considerably more competitive against our Asian counterparts than we were in 2015”.

Winlock are forecasting this growth will continue into 2017 despite the potential backdrop of a falling market. “We anticipate that the products and services launched in 2016, including our recent collaboration with Ingenious Locks & Hardware, will bring a full year’s benefit,” added Alan Parker.
