Village hall gets Stellar new look

A nine-metre Stellar Aluminium Slimline Bifold Door is a central feature of a brand-new village hall in Aberporth in Ceredigion in West Wales.

The Stellar Aluminium door, together with 16 fully flush Stellar Aluminium windows, seven fixed-frame Stellar windows and one 5×2.5m five-pane bifold door were manufactured and installed by local company GD Windows.

Tristan Jones, Sales Manager at GD Windows, said: “Most of our team grew up in Aberporth, so to be involved in such a landmark project for the village was a huge privilege.”

The new village hall was a five-year project that saw the original 1930s hall demolished and a brand new one built in its place. The project cost £1.35m and attracted funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, the Welsh Government Community Facilities Programme and the UK Government Community Ownership Fund.

The main contractor on the project was Jamson Estates Ltd, with the fenestration element provided by GD Windows.

The centrepiece of the building is a nine-metre Stellar Aluminium Slimline Bifold Door with low threshold that acts as an internal room divider.

Tristan commented: “Stellar Aluminium is a remarkable system, and the nine-metre bifold door is the perfect example of its strength. Its sleek design, combined with its durability, allows for expansive, unobstructed views while maintaining superior performance. It’s testament to how award-winning product design can work to transform spaces.”

GD Windows has over 30 years’ installation experience across private and commercial projects. The team prides itself on working closely with its customers and manufacturing and installing products to the highest of standards so they will stand the test of time.

Tristan concluded: “Stellar delivers outstanding performance while being remarkably easy to fabricate and install. The system offers sleek, flush aesthetics that meet and exceed the expectations of today’s discerning buyers. In this project, the Stellar Aluminium Slimline Bifold combines the strength and durability required for a bifold door with slim sashes and a modern, stylish design. With meeting stiles just 117mm wide, it creates an elegant sightline that allows the glass to take centre stage, maximising the visual appeal and redefining contemporary architectural design.”

The system has helped the GD Windows team to create a stunning project that sits at the heart of their village life.
