Tangible benefits

hoppeHOPPE (UK), the manufacturer of hardware for the window and door and architectural sectors, has reported ‘tangible benefits’ for its customers, after it invested £400k to ‘improve the material flow’ through its distribution centre, in 2013.

,“One of the key drivers for us at HOPPE, is achieving great customer service and satisfaction” explained Stewart Lamb, sales and marketing manager for the Door and Window Division at HOPPE (UK).

,“After a period of research and process reviews, it became apparent that we could be working smarter, so the decision was taken to invest in a complete redesign of the layout of the distribution centre, in order to house pallet flow racking, high density carton racking, self-contained dispatch sections linked directly to the carrier and new labelling and IT equipment, which allows us to keep an up to the minute check on stock levels and product availability.

,”As a result of the changes, picking and dispatch errors are down 30%. Feedback from our customers has been extremely positive because of the improvements, which makes it all worthwhile. With additional investment planned in 2015, HOPPE will continue to review and develop processes as well as products, to ensure we deliver on quality and performance.”
