Solid demand for Celsius

Synseal

Synseal Synseal reports that it has experienced a very positive market response to the launch of its new Celsius Solid Roof, with requests for project quotations surpassing expectations.

With the retrofit replacement of existing first generation conservatory roofs identified as a key sales area, which Synseal describes as ‘a growing market segment’, the ‘sizeable quantity’ of installed conservatories across the length and breadth of the UK presents what Synseal describes as ‘a prime opportunity for upgrading with either high performance insulated roof glass or a modern tiled solid roof’.

The Energy Follow-Up Survey 2011 report 6: Conservatories, prepared by the BRE in December 2013 on behalf of the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC), identified that approximately 18% of the 21.9 million households in England have a conservatory which equates to around 4 million conservatories. Only 77% of these conservatories have heating and a telling additional statistic from Palmer Market Research is that back in 2004, when new conservatory sales were still at their peak at almost 200,000 installs a year, 75% of those projects featured polycarbonate roof glazing. According to Synseal, these factors combine to underpin the current market demand for upgrading with a thermally efficient replacement roof.

“We knew we were doing the right thing in launching Celsius Solid Roof,” commented Mark Schlotel, head of marketing at Synseal, “but the feedback from installers to our new, truly warm all-timber solid roof design has been fantastic. The number one marketing activity for us is to demonstrate just how quickly our project-specific Celsius Solid Roof kits can be fitted on site through open day technical workshops. We welcome installers to come and take a look at how swiftly our well-engineered roof goes together. The other issue we are tackling head-on is explaining how to successfully process Building Regulations applications which are definitely required for solid roof jobs, as installers who are used to fitting exempt conservatories may regard that legislative hurdle to be a daunting prospect at first.”
