As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, Rehau trade fabricator Euroglaze has chosen Retina UK as its charity partner. The Barnsley based business says it is planning a series of events and challenges for staff and customers over the coming months to raise a target of £10K.
Retina UK is said to be the only UK charity dedicated solely to working for people affected by the inherited sight loss experienced by both the company’s managing director, Martin Nettleton and his brother Simon.
Nicky Park, Euroglaze’s sales and customer service administrator, who is the driving force behind the fundraising efforts, said: “We all wanted to do something to mark our 40th anniversary which would involve as many people at Euroglaze as possible and make everyone here proud. Retina UK seemed like the perfect choice and almost as soon as we announced our plan, the fundraising ideas started to flood in!”
The fundraising will begin with a fancy-dress fun day at Euroglaze’s HQ featuring a strong man van pull, and continue with an online competition for customers, a virtual cycle ride from Lands End to John o’Groats and everything from obstacle races to cake sales.
Martin Nettleton added: “Retina UK doesn’t just support those affected by inherited sight loss but, just as importantly, it funds cutting-edge research into the conditions which cause it. If we can get to £10K, it will make a real difference to them but hopefully, if we can get our customers involved as well, we can make it even more.”
