Rehau’s team of ‘Redkite’ charity fundraisers finally lived up to their name on 1 August when they successfully completed a series of tandem skydives – jumping at 15,000 feet from a plane flying over Honiton in Devon.

The team of nine, which included four from Rehau’s window division, have already raised more than £5,000 for the Prostate Cancer charity and are appealing for last minute sponsorship via the website at: www.justgiving.com/rehau-Limited

15,000 feet is the highest that civilians can jump from without needing oxygen so the team – all bar one of whom were first time skydivers – had plenty of time during the descent to pose for photographs and even a video which is now available on YouTube.

Rehau’s marketing communications manager, Irene Smith, who jumped alongside communications coordinator, Faye Tompkins, marketing and technical director, Gareth Jones, and applications engineer, Edward Kodia, said: “We thought it would be a once in a lifetime experience but in fact we all enjoyed it so much, we’re already planning how we might do it all again next year raising funds for another charity like Prostate Cancer, which is close to everyone’s hearts.”

The Rehau Redkite team was originally scheduled to jump in June as part of a world record attempt but bad weather intervened and the team had to make their own arrangements to ensure that the jump took place.

Irene added: “We had so much amazing support from friends, colleagues and the industry – especially customers – that we couldn’t let them down. We’re really grateful for every penny we received in sponsorship and want to say a huge thank you to everyone who made the jump such a success.”
