Leaders of Mark Allen Group, which owns Glass & Glazing Products (GGP) magazine and the Installer Awards, have acquired the Glazing Summit conference. The move strengthens Mark Allen’s position within the glazing sector while Andrew Scott, founder of the Glazing Summit and CEO of the event organisers, Insight Data and Purplex Marketing, will remain closely linked to the event.
Andrew said: “I created the Glazing Summit to enable the industry to connect, learn and share valuable insights and experience. We held the first event in 2018 and it’s gone from strength to strength with a first-class conference and gala dinner. This year we had almost 500 industry professionals attend the event, tackling the biggest issues facing our sector.”
Over the last 37 years, Andrew has acquired, built and sold several businesses within the glazing sector. He launched the specialist marketing business, Purplex, in 2004, to advise companies on business and marketing strategy.
In 2007 he launched Insight Data, to provide the construction and fenestration sectors with in-depth market intelligence. The data business provides detailed information on 14,000 companies that operate in the UK glazing sector.
Andrew added: “Mark Allen Group is a major events and media business that specialises in events such as the Glazing Summit. It is ideally placed to take the event forward.
“Insight Data and Purplex will continue to support the Summit as it goes from strength to strength. I look forward to spending more time working closer directly with clients as the industry faces some challenges ahead.”
Ben Allen, chief executive officer at Mark Allen Group, stated: “The Glazing Summit is an excellent addition to our portfolio of brands in the glazing sector. Andrew and his team have done an outstanding job in developing the event and we are delighted that Insight Data and Purplex Marketing will continue to support the event under our ownership.
“The Glazing Summit will be run out of MA Business, under the leadership of Jon Benson, managing director and COO, and Marc Young, publishing director, of MA Business, who will continue to grow the summit and ensure that its excellent reputation as being the must-attend event for the industry’s most influential leaders is maintained.” GGP Magazine will continue to support the Glazing Summit, and to report on the event’s key debates.
