Research from building merchant Hitchcock and King has quantified recent high demand for home renovation services in the UK. According to the company, there was a 27% increase in search volume for home renovations in 2020, compared to 2019.
Hitchcock and King’s data, informed by Google Trends, revealed a 76% increase in search volume for ‘decking’ in 2020 compared to 2019, a 67% increase in search volume for ‘patio’ and a 60% increase in search volume for ‘home extensions’. The research also found a 70% increase in search volume for ‘garden shed’.
