Liniar staff donated 593 food items to charity last month, aiming to support local people in need. The items are set to be distributed by charity Salcare to people needing support in the Heanor area of Derbyshire this Christmas.
In addition to the food donations, team members of the PVC-U systems company have also been choosing, wrapping and donating Christmas gifts for people in their business’ local community. The gifts are intended for adults and children who are being supported by Derbyshire WISH, a charity that offers advice, support and refuge for people impacted by domestic abuse.
Martin Thurley, Liniar’s managing director, said: “Charities are under more pressure than ever as household budgets are squeezed and donations fall. The cost of living crisis is being felt throughout our community, both physically and mentally.
“The sad fact is that families are having to choose between heating their homes and buying food. Unfortunately, this kind of pressure can also result in a rise in domestic violence.
“I’m always proud of the way the Liniar team pull together to assist the local community. The food they’ve collected will help people stretch their money just that little bit further. And the gifts, which could be the only present some receive this Christmas, will offer a small respite to those facing an uncertain future through no fault of their own.”
Liniar is a subsidiary of Quanex. Read about how the business is supporting Building Our Skills’ Inspiring the Future initiative here.
