Bristol-based window company CR Windows has donated funds to Deerhurst care home, allowing the care home team to improve its on-site beach and garden. The donation enabled the home to buy a new paddling pool, volleyball set, surf boards, beach balls, umbrellas and to embark on a beach clear up.
CR Windows’ owners, Dean Lancaster, production director, and Mark Brown, managing director, donated £250 to the local care home, ensuring that residents could enjoy the summer in style. Lesley Hobbs, care home manager, said: “We were thrilled when CR Windows’ donation came through. We knew the beach needed a little TLC, so that’s what we spent the money on! It’s been lovely to see the residents enjoying the beach with their friends and family. It’s really put a smile on our faces. A huge thank you to CR Windows for their kind gesture!”
Throughout the pandemic, CR Windows has been supporting its local community, running campaigns to recognise the hard work of local people and organisations. Earlier this year, CR Windows surprised local nurses, teachers, carers and helpful neighbours with gifts, thanking them for their contributions to the community.
Dean said: “As a local business, supporting our community has always been our priority. Over the last 18 months, we’ve been reminded how important community is. That’s why we wanted to support a local cause. We are really pleased that we have been able to help Deerhurst care home with their big beach clean up. I know how much the beach means to the residents so knowing our donation has made a difference is just wonderful!”
Deerhurst care home, in Speedwell, Bristol, is a service close to Dean’s heart, as his uncle once lived at the home. As such, Dean knows first-hand how important donations are to the home. The window and door specialists at CR Windows have supported local causes for over 40 years, donating money to causes including St Peter’s Hospice, James Hopkins Trust, children’s sports clubs, the Grand Appeal and TV projects such as DIY SOS. The business has collectively donated more than £30,000 to local causes.
