Giovanni Laporta, innovator behind the Smart Ready Standard, starting a career in the double-glazing industry at the age of 18 provided plenty of opportunity to make some money.
He adds, however, that it was not in fact the main stimulus for his working life at the time…
Talking exclusively to GGP Magazine in a video interview (see below), Gio admits that his main inspiration during his early career was actually a desire to be recognised for his hard work and achievements.
“For me, my main focus throughout the year was always the industry awards,” he says. “It gave me a real drive, and an ambition to be the best. This is why awards are so important for all industries. It’s a real chance for people to motivate and better themselves, and to be rewarded in front of their peers.”
As a main sponsor for the 2021 GGP Magazine Installer awards, Gio adds that the event, scheduled for 18 March 2021, is the perfect opportunity for window, door and conservatory installers to be given proper recognition for their hard work.
“There isn’t enough focus given to the retail sector, which is one of the main reasons Smart Ready is sponsoring the Installer Awards,” adds Gio. “Installers are the life blood of the industry, they are at the front line, interacting directly with consumers.
