Specialist glass processor and manufacturer, MiGlass, has won Best Business Innovation at the recent Sandwell Business Awards, a partnership between Sandwell College in the West Midlands, Sandwell Council and Sandwell Business Solutions Centre.
MiGlass secured the Best Business Innovation Award in recognition of its investment in machinery, factory space and people to create a ‘cutting edge’ solution for producing balustrade panels. The new vertical CNC line resulted in MiGlass creating several new jobs as well as taking on three young people as apprentices. The project was supported with an LEP grant.
MiGlass’ operations director, Glenn Bicknell, and managing director, Alan Taylor (picture left to right) were presented with the award at a ceremony at Sandwell College from Jan Britton, chief executive of Sandwell Council and Sameena Ali-Khan of Central TV.
One of the largest independent glass processors and glass manufacturers in Europe, MiGlass has reportedly been producing speciality glass at its Smethwick site in Birmingham for more than 80 years. The company produces speciality glass for offices, retail, leisure, home and transport, specialising in decorative safety glass.
