Friday night saw almost 700 people gather in the capital to honour some of the glass and glazing sector’s brightest stars at ‘fenestration industry Oscars’, the G-16 Awards.
Taking place at the London Hilton hotel on Park Lane, the glittering awards ceremony was hosted by comedian, Milton Jones, in his distinctive deadpan style.
Solidor beat off stiff competition to scoop the coveted Fabricator of the Year award, with the company’s CEO, Gareth Mobley, describing the win as ‘amazing’, adding: “It’s fantastic to be recognised by the G-Awards, and we’re really proud of what we’ve all achieved this year.”
Other winners included Thermoseal, which followed up last year’s double G-Awards success by scooping the Component Supplier of the Year award for the second year on the trot.
Thermoseal’s Sam Hill said: “We were delighted to win ‘Component Supplier of the Year’ for the second year in a row. Friday was a great day for us because other members of our team also attended award ceremonies seeing us win two other awards, including ‘EEF Future Manufacturing Award for Export’ for the North West Region and also a Wigan Business Award for ‘Exporter of the Year 2016’. Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to all those who raised a glass with us on the evening.”
First-time winner, the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) scooped the Derek Bonnard Award for Excellence for ‘continually providing outstanding services to the glass and glazing industry’, much to the ‘surprise and delight’ of many guests.
James Lee, GGF director of marketing and communications who was accompanied on stage by the GGF’s Brian Smith and Brian Baker, to accept the award from Andy Jones of the Synseal Group, said: “It was a great honour to accept this industry award on behalf of the GGF. All at the GGF and all our members should take pride in this recognition, which I feel is deserved, given the scope and consistency of our work.”
Profile 22 also rounded off a ‘momentous year’ by scooping the New Product of the Year for window system, Optima, which was launched to ‘widespread acclaim’ at this year’s FIT Show.
