With an increasingly international flavour, this year’s Glasstec hosted 1,235 exhibitors from 52 countries at Germany’s Messe Düsseldorf and welcomed more than 40,200 trade visitors from over 100 countries, across four days.
According to the event’s organisers, exhibitors at the glass industry trade fair, covering mechanical engineering, glass production, processing and finishing, skilled crafts, architecture and construction, as well as windows, facades and solar systems, ‘unanimously’ reported the forging of ‘promising’ business deals, the making of new contacts and encouragingly, an ‘upbeat mood’ in the global glass sector.
The organisers report that more than half of visitors to Glasstec were at a ‘decision-making level’ within their companies, while over 40% reportedly attended ‘with concrete intentions to invest’. The proportion of guests travelling to Düsseldorf from abroad was also described by Glasstec’s organisers as ‘unrivalled’.
Joachim Schäfer, managing director at Glasstec venue, Messe Düsseldorf, said: “The glass sector has once again impressively demonstrated its many facets and performance potential in Düsseldorf. We were able to see an innovative industry in the nine exhibition halls that looks to the future with optimism.”
Summing up, Glasstec director, Birgit Horn, said: “Glasstec 2016 was a successful event for us. The feedback from exhibitors and visitors was very positive. And I can´t forget to mention the Glasstec team, whose hard work before and during the show made Glasstec 2016 such a success.”
The next Glasstec will take place in two years, from 23-26 October 2018 in Düsseldorf.
An extended review of Glasstec will feature in the forthcoming October issue of GGP.
