Glass and Glazing Products (GGP) magazine has joined six other glazing industry businesses in sponsoring a charity bike ride led by leaders of Made for Trade (MFT). For the ‘Faster to Fit’ fundraising challenge, the north-east-based manufacturer’s operations director, Chris Wann, and business development manager, Leigh Greenwood, are to ride 200 miles from MFT’s head office in Billingham to the Birmingham NEC, on 22 May – just in time for the start of this year’s Fit Show trade exhibition on 23 May. The duo aim to complete the challenge in one day, and are fundraising for Cancer Research UK. Click here to lend your support to the fundraiser. Other sponsors of the ‘Faster to Fit’ challenge include Hyde Die Casting, TuffX, Clayton Glass and, of course, the Fit Show.
“The incredible work done by Cancer Research relies heavily on fundraising and donations,” explained Chris. “And when it comes to the fenestration world, there is no better place to highlight the industry’s community and generosity than at the Fit Show. Being able to take on this challenge allows us to raise vital funds in the fight against cancer.”
The pair are to set off at dawn on 22 May, with the aim of arriving at the NEC by 5pm on the same day. “The 200-mile ordeal will certainly test the Fit-ness of the MFT staff,” said the business’ representative. “The time pressure is on to complete the journey before set up doors close on the Monday evening, since the two bikes are set to form an intrinsic part of MFT’s Fit Show display.”
Alongside the Korniche bi-folding door system and the Korniche lantern roof, which are both set to be on display to Fit Show visitors, this year, MFT staff are also set to showcase a podium for the first time, on Stand Q11. The podium is to display Chris and Leigh’s bikes, to raise awareness and generate donations for Cancer Research UK.
More than 6,000 people are predicted to attend this year’s Fit Show, over three days, alongside more than 100 exhibitors. All are encouraged to join MFT’s fundraising efforts and showcase the generosity within the fenestration industry to help further fund the lifesaving work of Cancer Research UK.
Fit Show is dedicated to the UK window, door, hardware and flat glass industry. The MFT team has exhibited at the event since 2016.
