GGF Member’s Day sees launch of MyGlazing.com

webHomepage - Advice menuThe Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) Member’s Day 2015 has seen the launch of a new consumer website, MyGlazing.com, designed to help consumers ‘make informed decisions’ when it comes to choosing the right windows, doors and conservatories for their homes.

Described by head of GGF Group marketing and communications, James Lee, as ‘arguably one of the most exciting projects the GGF has undertaken’, James explained how the federation felt the time was right to launch a ‘jargon-free’, impartial source of advice, guidance and ‘inspiration’ for consumers, after it emerged that 75% of visitors to the GGF website, some 100,000 people each year, are homeowners.

James said: “Currently the GGF’s trade-facing website receives over 100,000 visits each year from homeowners looking for independent and practical advice on issues around glass and glazing. In view of this, we felt it was important to communicate with homeowners on one consumer-friendly website.

“MyGlazing.com aims to help consumers make the right choice for their home, so their selection and installation, be it for windows, doors, conservatories, or any other home improvement product, runs as smoothly as possible.”

As well as the provision of easy to understand information on the benefits of installing energy efficient windows, MyGlazing.com also offers an interactive energy efficiency calculator to help homeowners work out how much they could save on their energy bills by upgrading their fenestration.

With consumer protection a key element of the website, advice will also be available on product guarantees, choosing a reputable installer and access to conciliation services.

Visitors to the site will also be able to browse product galleries, including images and videos of windows, doors and conservatories, to provide inspiration for their home improvement projects.

As well as the launch of MyGlazing.com, other Member’s Day highlights besides the GGF AGM, included an update on the state of the market from Robert Palmer of Palmer Market Research; tips on meeting consumer expectations from retail champion, Clare Rayner and a keynote speech from VIP, Lord Redesdale, former Energy Spokesman for the Liberal Democrats for the House of Lords (2000-2008). There were also updates from all the federation’s groups in the Chairmen’s Forum, which took place after lunch.

Billed by President, Brian Baker, as ‘the biggest [GGF] networking opportunity of the year’, the event, which took place at the prestigious Glazier’s Hall in London, also included a three course meal and various opportunities to ask questions in the open forums that followed each session.

www.myglazing.com is set for launch on 2 September 2015
