Euroglaze signs up to BeWell@Work

Euroglaze has signed up to the BeWell@Work initiative which is run by its local council. The workplace health initiative aims to help businesses identify its priorities and provides relevant training for key members of the workforce, representatives of the initiative have said.

After the Barnsley-based trade fabricator, Euroglaze, ran an employee survey which revealed concerns around heart health, it instigated free, regular blood pressure checks at its factory. The business has also begun sharing workplace health information with staff and signposting staff to external resources to support both mental and physical health.

Martin Nettleton, Euroglaze’s managing director, said: “Staff retention, recruitment and productivity are more important than ever at the moment. We already have very low levels of staff turnover. But if we can keep our staff even healthier and happier then it’s a big win for the business.”

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, staff health and wellbeing have risen up the agenda for most businesses in the fenestration market, according to Euroglaze representatives. Combined with the ongoing industry skills shortage, there is now widespread recognition of the commercial as well as welfare benefits to be had from looking after employees, business leaders have added.

Euroglaze’s commitment to the BeWell@Work programme has earned the business a bronze Good Practice Award. The fabricator is on course to achieve further awards over the coming months, according to representatives of the business.

Earlier this year, Martin completed the Ride London 100-mile charity challenge. Read more about this here.
