Nine sporting Dempsey Dyer employees, otherwise known as the ‘Dempsey Dyer Dames,’ are raising money for Cancer Research and running the Wakefield 5k Race Life. Anna Cusworth, Amanda Cox, Hannah Carritt, Jessica Shelley, Natalie Shaw, Michelle Bossons, Sarah Fox, Serina Dimmock and Tracy Curtis, will all be donning their pink Cancer Research t-shirts and participating in the fundraising event, which takes place next month.
The organiser of the Dempsey Dyer Dames, Tracy Curtis, said: “Cancer is affecting more of us each day and events like this are vital in funding Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work. We wanted to do our bit to support them and I’d like to thank everyone who has donated so far.”
Sales and marketing director, Peter Dyer, commented: “Cancer Research UK is a fantastic charity and I’m very proud of the ‘Dames’ for signing up. I wish them all the best on their run.”
The Race for Life is just the latest charity effort from the Yorkshire based PVC-u and timber window fabricator. In 2014, Dempsey Dyer staff ‘Wore it Pink’ and donated £860 to Breast Cancer Awareness and the Teenage Cancer Trust. And in 2013, Peter Dyer ran the Brighton marathon, raising £1,356 for the Lullaby Trust, a charity dedicated to saving babies’ lives.
