Dame Judith Hackitt is due to speak at a free fire safety webinar on 5 September, to share her thoughts on how the construction industry’s standards have progressed. She is also to offer an update on the number of buildings that have been registered with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) so far, as part of new requirements under the Higher-Risk Buildings Regulations 2023.
The webinar is on of two to be hosted by leaders of FireDNA, the business behind an award-winning passive fire product monitoring system, on the progress of the Building Safety Act implementation programme. The webinars’ organisers are inviting manufacturers to attend on 5 and 6 September 2023 to hear Dame Hackitt and to learn about the changes to expect in the coming months.
“These webinars will highlight the importance of everyone in the supply chain taking responsibility for their role in contributing to, maintaining and managing building safety information,” said Tony Millen, chief product architect and operations director at FireDNA. “That’s not just dutyholders and not just buildings in scope; everyone in the industry has a key role to play in making buildings safer.”
After the session featuring Dame Hackitt, on Tuesday 5 September, a second session is to take place on Wednesday 6 September, focussing on construction products and the competency of people working with life safety products. Participants are to include Hanna Clarke, digital and policy manager for the Construction Products Association, Will Hunnam, managing director of Forza Doors and Douglas Masterson, technical manager at Guild of Architectural Ironmongers.
