Cornwall Glass Manufacturing’s golf day, held at the stunning Ashbury Hotel Golf Resort near Okehampton in Devon, has been hailed a success, with customers choosing to extend their break with families into the weekend.
Fifty-six golfers enjoyed wall-to-wall sunshine as they navigated one of four beautiful courses – Pines, Beeches, Oakwood and Kigbeare – just north of Dartmoor.
“Playing golf at the Ashbury Hotel Golf Resort is a real treat, and provides an excellent opportunity to catch up with customers in a relaxed environment,” Commercial and Technical Director Angus Herdman said. “And we would like to thank Saint-Gobain Glass for supporting the event with golf balls.
“As well as the usual course competitions, such as longest drive and nearest the pin, golfers also had the opportunity to ‘beat the pro’ using a golfing simulation. By ‘charging’ golfers £5 a go, we managed to raise £265 for charity!”
The overall winners were: Stella Roof Lights/Aluminium Solutions (Pines); Avon Armour (Beeches); Bristol Glass Processing (Oakwood); and Crystal Clear/Saint-Gobain Glass (Kigbeare).
The ‘Nearest the Pin’ winners were Richard Trace (Pines); Harry Sellwood (Beeches); Roger Hayes (Oakwood); and Will Veah (Kigbeare). The big hitters celebrating the Longest Drives were Paul Trace (Pines); Barry Lee (Beeches); Jack Evett (Oakwood) and Wayne Wright (Kigbeare).
While nobody beat the pro, Ben Cogavin from Renaissance Conservatories came closest.
“Building strong relationships with your customers is vital for making the most of business opportunities as they present themselves,” Angus concluded. “Thank you to all our customers who joined us at the Ashbury Hotel Golf Resort, and made it such a special day.”
