Aperture Group has announced the sale of Global Glass to IGU manufacturer, Clayton Glass. With a 60-year history in the glass sector specifically, the company is reported to be well positioned to take the Global business forward.
Matthew Mycock, CEO of the Aperture Group, commented: “Since I joined Aperture, I have been working hard to chart a new course through a rapidly changing industry landscape, and have continued to look at different areas of the business to make sure customers get the very best products and service. I believe there is untapped potential in the Global business, that can be realised under the new trusted ownership of Clayton Glass.
“The acquisition will not affect the day to day management of Global Glass, which has to date been run as a separate business within the Group by Derren Gittins. Derren joins Clayton Glass in his continued role of managing director of Global Glass and there will be no changes to the rest of the Global Glass team, so customers can be assured of consistency of the day to day running of the business, down to placing their orders with the same people.
“Similarly, for Aperture customers, there will be little change to their supply as we have secured a long-term partnership supply agreement with Clayton Glass up front. This will allow our customers to benefit from an even wider product range.
“With Clayton Glass’ expertise in the glass sector, Global Glass will be able to achieve better UK coverage and supply stability. It adds almost 50% to Clayton’s existing capacity.
“To move Aperture, or any business for that matter, forward, you need to acknowledge where its core is and honestly appraise current performance and where the opportunities for improvement lie. We genuinely believe that Global Glass will thrive under Clayton Glass’ expert ownership, while Aperture’s strengths lie in PVC-U systems, WarmCore, Calibre Doors, PVC-U fabrication of windows and patio doors through Norvik New Build, and Roofs including Global, K2 systems, Celsius Solid Roofs, Stratus Lantern roof and SkySpace.
“We are determined to create a more customer focused, and sustainable business for our customers, colleagues and critical supply chain partners and believe that the sale of Global Glass is another step towards this goal. For Global Glass too, joining a dedicated, well-established glass company, will benefit the business and its customers now and for the long-term.”
