Architects in the UK, the Netherlands and Poland expect the use of architectural glass as a facade material to grow over the next five years, according to the European Architectural Barometer report, a quarterly market research survey, carried out among 1,600 architects in eight European countries.
In Belgium, Germany and France, the architects surveyed expected wood to be a ‘leading material’ in facade construction over the next five years, while a greater use of high pressure laminate (HPL) was expected in Spain and concrete/ plasterwork in Italy.
The European Architectural Barometer is conducted in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland by Arch-Vision four times a year. According to Arch-Vision, architects are not only a reliable source for future building volumes information, but their role is also very important as they have ‘substantial influence’ on how projects are built and which materials are used.
