Aluminium slider sales match market share of bi-folds, says Tommy Trinder

Aluminium sliders are levelling with bi-folds for market share, according to figures released by the software firm Tommy Trinder. The business’ analysts report that £15m-worth of sliders were quoted by installers via the Framepoint app so far this year, compared to £16m-worth of bi-folds.

“We know that demand for stylish aluminium sliding doors has soared in recent years but this latest activity data from Framepoint suggests we are reaching a tipping point where demand for patios may once again outstrip bi-folds,” said Chris Brunsdon, Tommy Trinder’s founder and CEO.

Of the 430 window firms that now use Framepoint for quoting, 83% are actively selling an aluminium slider, which is up from 78% a year ago, the software business’ latest figures have revealed. What’s more, the number of aluminium patios quoted to homeowners is continuing to grow month on month, they say.

“To keep pace with the demands of our users, the challenge has been to ensure that Framepoint can cope with the complexity that aluminium provides whilst, as ever, keeping the app super simple and fast to use,” Chris added.

Latest in a run of features designed to help installers sell sliders is the ability to touch, show and price a wide range of interlocks. “The demand for sliders is driven by a desire on the part of homeowners to flood their properties with natural light. Interlocks have become slimmer and slimmer as a result. Our latest release allows users to show clients the effect of a slim interlock in one touch – both up close and on the house.”

A range of up to five interlocks can be configured in Framepoint, in sizes ranging from 20mm to 100mm. Sliders can be finished in any RAL colour in a tap, and it’s one click to add finishing touches such as stainless-style ironmongery and flush thresholds, the business representatives say.

“Seeing is believing when it comes to convincing homeowners to invest in premium products,” added Chris. “We’re confident that being able to quickly and simply model the dramatic effect of these expansive glass areas will help installers win orders.” For a free demo, visit tommytrinder.com.
