A team of 12 cyclists from RegaLead have completed a gruelling 220-mile ride from London to Paris, in aid of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity (RDMCC).
,Earlier this month, ‘Team Marvellous’ team set off from London’s Tower Bridge destined for the French capital, completing the challenge in three days with ‘only a few mishaps along the way’.
,Day one saw the team make its way from London to Brighton – a challenge in itself – with a puncture the only drama, before boarding a ferry at the Port of Newhaven to take them to the French leg of the journey from Dieppe to Beauvais and then on to Paris across the second and third day.
,A huge amount of money was raised along the way, as joint managing director, Guy Hubble, explained: “We started out the ride in high spirits, each dressed as a character from a Roald Dahl book. It was while we were travelling through France, during which time we encountered the tail end of Hurricane Bertha and one member was suffering from a bad knee injury, that we discovered we had beaten our £10,000 fundraising target for the year. This was fantastic news and really kept us going. We covered roughly 70 miles each day, through alternating blistering heat and storms and I’d like to extend special thanks to all the shirt sponsors, and of course to every member of Team Marvellous for their truly marvellous efforts.
,“RDMCC is a fantastic and worthwhile charity, and we are all very passionate about raising as much money as possible to help them continue their good work. We may have beaten our target, but that’s no reason not to donate if you haven’t already and would like to, so please visit our Just Giving page and give whatever you can. Now we just need to decide what our big challenge will be next year.”
