Record entries and soaring temperatures reportedly made it another day to remember when 27 teams of Glazerite customers joined 14 others for the 13th Glazerite Pro-Am Golf Day.
The event, making another return to Wellingborough Golf Club, was said to be all the more memorable for Jeff Dunn, new group sales and marketing director for The Glazerite UK Group – it was not only his very first day in his new job, but he also came away with ‘Nearest the Pin’ for the final hole.
Top team among Glazerite customers was Classic Conservatories comprising Glen Harris, John Harris and Mark Davis along with pro, Andrew Jones of Forest of Arden Golf Club, coming third overall with a score of 130-14.
The players weren’t the only winners on the day; individual teams’ contributions as well as companies’ hole sponsorships added up to over £1,700 for the Lewis Foundation, a local charity distributing gift packs among cancer patients in Northamptonshire hospitals. The Lewis Foundation’s Lorraine Lewis said: “It was great to be a part of the evening event and help raise the profile of the charity. The money raised will provide 486 gift packs for cancer patients in hospital. We could not achieve as much as we have without the support of companies like Glazerite. We were truly overwhelmed at the generosity of all who took part.”
John Hewitt, chairman of the Glazerite UK Group a devoted golfer, declared the event the ‘best yet’: “It was a thoroughly good day for everyone who took part and the £1,700 raised for the Lewis Foundation was so very much appreciated. They do a lot of great work in the local community for a cause that touches many hearts with our staff and families in the area.
“In the evening we had the prize giving, which many of our staff joined us for and we made the most of the great weather with a marque and live band in the club gardens. We’re already making plans for 2019 but we have set ourselves a tough challenge to match this year. Thanks again to all who joined us and made the event a success.”
Liam Bird, commercial manager of K2 Aluminium, said: “A fantastic day as ever, and on a fantastic course too. Both the golf itself and the evening were among the highlights of our calendar, not to be missed.”
Jeremy Proctor, playing with the Frames Conservatories Direct Team, said: “I wanted to say a massive thank you to the team at Glazerite for a super day at Wellingborough golf club. As always, the event was brilliantly run and James our Pro for the day was a real gent, I know that the team had some fun and laughs along the way so once again thank you very much.”
Ian Woolley, sales director at Hitech Blinds, added: “Any corporate event Glazerite does is always well run and well received, and this was no exception – an excellent and very enjoyable day.”
