Giovanni Laporta, inventor and innovator of the smart technology brand Smart Ready, has praised the conviction of the Fit Show’s organisers, after the team recently announced that it was postponing the industry exhibition until next May (catch up on that news, here.) Before Fit Show’s announcement, Giovanni took the decision to bow out from attending the September event (his statement is published here.)
“I’m really happy that the show has been put back to next spring,” said Giovanni today (29 July). “It just feels it is the right thing for visitors’ and exhibitors’ safety and for return on investment.
“Obviously, it is hugely disappointing as a business that we won’t be able to launch the Smart Ready Futureproof Home as planned for the September show, although we will shortly be announcing a programme of pre-launch demos for existing customers from September 2021. To my mind, there was no other option to postponing the elephant in the room. The decision taken is by no means a negative action – quite the opposite in fact. Positive actions are often forced to the surface when we accept the negative actions and some of the toughest decisions we ever make are made in times of crisis.
“Leaders lead. Nickie West, Fit Show’s managing director, needs to be acknowledged for her leadership, and we, as an industry, need to reset ourselves and put our collective brands and passion behind Nickie and her team for Fit 2022. I for one am looking forward to a more spectacular show.”
