Mumford & Wood, the award-winning timber window and door manufacturer, has invested a figure approaching £1.5m in the company’s manufacturing facility at Tiptree, Essex.
Mumford & Wood, which last year celebrated its 60th anniversary, marked the occasion at a special reception with guest of honour, The Right Honourable Priti Patel MP, Minister of State for Employment, who formally opened the extended facility, currently home to 120 employees.
“The investment in this state-of-the-art, computer controlled plant and machinery has enabled Mumford & Wood to replace a great deal of the manual work on the more straightforward products, thus allowing our craftsmen and women to channel their efforts to more skilled work, including the production of specials, such as bay windows and curved heads, that require specialist hand finishing and which for them is both interesting and rewarding,” said Mike Harris, director, Mumford & Wood.
Mumford & Wood is part of the Performance Timber Products Group (PTPG), which also includes the brands of Timber Windows, with products that are sold through a UK installer network, and Dale Windows, with fenestration systems that are sold through the merchant distribution network via an innovative on-line ordering system.
“For our valued employees, staff and stakeholders,” said Roy Wakeman OBE, chairman, PTPG, “this considerable move underlines continued future confidence, market growth, increased output and investment in innovation for this market-leading brand.”
