Installer, K2 Aluminium Systems, and Veka fabricator, The Glazerite UK Group, have worked together on a commercial project aimed at rejuvenating an area of Liverpool.
The installation at Phoenix Place, two purpose-built blocks of student accommodation, is part of a multi-million redevelopment in the heart of the city. Using Veka M70 triple-glazed casement windows fabricated by Glazerite at its Bolton site, the team from Birkenhead-based K2 installed 744 grey on white frames over an eight-week period.
Liam Bird, commercial manager for K2, said: “The building has increased insulation on it so a 225mm cill was required, which Glazerite catered for. Though the grey used makes the windows look like aluminium, PVC-U was specified because of its thermal properties
“The installation was challenging because we had to work around the other trades who were rendering and cladding the buildings. Glazerite helped us by staggering deliveries and tailoring the schedule so we received exactly what we needed on a week by week basis.”
Pete Smith, sales manager for Glazerite, said: “We’ve worked with K2 for a long time on commercial projects, ranging from new builds to renovations, and the results are always fantastic.”
