Glass supplied by TuffX was recently installed to create a floating glass staircase, including cantilevered floor treads. The safety glass required to complete the job needed a CNC finish, with completely smooth polished edges and dubbed corners, plus precision drilled holes along the bottom. Glass specialist TuffX was chosen to provide 12mm safety glass for the project’s three staircase panels and five landing panels, of varying widths and heights.
According to TuffX, the staircase’s combination of striking, minimalist glass, warm wood treads and contrasting sleek stainless steel handrails and fittings create an elegant feature that would be a talking point in any home. The company says that the open risers combined with the glass transforms what could have been a gloomy hallway into a bright, light and airy modern space.
