ERA’s new double cam window lock is an advanced locking mechanism that the hardware company claims simplifies fabrication and installation, reducing manufacturing time and cost. Exceeding PAS 24 requirements, the double cam window lock features up to three sets of unidirectional double locking cams, securing the sash tightly to the frame for protection and strength across the window.
The lock’s unique design features an innovative ‘Super Keep’ that is combined with a central anti-lift fixed pin to prevent jemmying attacks on the window and eliminates the need for shootbolts. The keep’s wraparound, reinforced steel top plate and composite underbelly deliver four-point fixing for additional security, while using minimal components for clean window aesthetics.
James Wilson, ERA’s product manager, said: “The new ERA double cam window lock provides a shootbolt-free PAS 24 solution on a simple, cost-effective platform designed to benefit fabricators, installers and homeowners alike.” For use with all major PVC-U profile systems, the lock’s streamlined design requires no complex routing or cutting down, as the espagnolette is placed into the pre-routed profile. On site, the 8mm double cams can be easily adjusted to fine tune compression.
The double cam window lock is available in six different bar sizes, from 230mm up to 1200mm, and a choice of a 20mm or 22mm backset with standard 66mm gearbox routing. Supplied with a 10-year mechanical guarantee, and backed by ERA’s Total Security Guarantee, the double cam window lock has been performance tested to 30,000 cycles, 240 hour corrosion resistance, and in-situ lock and keep combinations to 3KN force.
