Antique bronze emerges as rising star in Regal Hardware colour finish

Leading hardware distributor, Window Ware has revealed that Antique Bronze has emerged as a popular colour for its Regal Hardware range, highlighting a significant shift in consumer preferences for hardware finishes.

The growing popularity of flush sash windows and doors with a timber-look design is expected to further fuel demand for Window Ware’s high-end heritage range, which blends traditional aesthetics with modern performance.

And while Black RAL9005 remains the dominant finish, consistently accounting for around 40-44% of sales of the range’s classic monkey tail and elegant pear drop designs, Antique Bronze is now second in the popularity charts at 12%, moving ahead of the likes of Polished and Satin Chrome, which have reduced in popularity from 10-13% to 7-8%.

For Rob Vaughan, Window Ware’s product manager, this points to a considerable switch for consumers.

“Our colour trend research has yielded some interesting results,” said Rob. “The steady growth of Antique Bronze is particularly noteworthy, with market share increasing from 7% in 2021 to 12% in 2024, including a 3% rise last year alone. This finish has clearly become very popular.”

“The market for decorative finishes is constantly evolving,” explained Rob. “We’re seeing less preference for Polished Chrome and Satin Chrome year on year. Rose Gold and Brushed Copper were popular for a while, but now represent a smaller market share, demonstrating how quickly customer tastes can change.”

Window Ware’s Regal Hardware range, endorsed by The Residence Collection for its R2,, R7, & R9 systems, offers a wide selection of premium handles, pegs, and stays for traditional and contemporary flush sash windows and doors.
