The NSG Group has launched Pilkington OptiView Ultra, an anti-reflective and highly transparent glass, to the UK market. The move is set to support architects specifying for the retail and leisure sectors.
The high-performance, anti-reflective glass can reduce visible light reflectance to less than 1%, compared to the 8% that is typically provided by standard glass, representatives of NSG have reported. The neutral colour of the coating provides a more natural view through the glass, they added, improving clarity and preserving the true colours of the viewed area.
“The glass is ideal for high light environments where visibility is crucial, including retail display and entertainment and cultural venues,” they went on to say. “It’s also suitable for technical applications, such as digital signage and touch screens.
“Pilkington OptiView Ultra is highly robust, making it easy to process and work with. It can also be laminated and toughened, making it suitable for internal and external use for a variety of demanding applications.”
The product has proven to retain the intended true colour when printed or painted, they say. It can also be bent, NSG’s team has explained, allowing the glass elements of a project to match the intended aesthetics.
Craig Bain, VA sales manager for Pilkington UK, which is part of the NSG Group, said: “The product delivers excellent aesthetics and a superior level of clarity and vision through the glass while retaining the durability and processability found across the Pilkington OptiView range.
“There are numerous sectors and applications that can benefit from using the glass, from retail to residential. We’re excited to help customers take advantage of its unique properties to meet their design challenges.”
The glass is now widely available in the UK in thicknesses from 4 mm to 10 mm, both single- and double-coated. The product is stocked in St Helens and is available for distribution directly to customers or through the Pilkington UK branch network.
