Just over12 months ago, Prefix Systems launched its Garden Room roof and with total sales said to be ‘well ahead of forecast’, the prospects for 2014 look ‘substantial’ for the UK conservatory and extended living space specialist.
The Garden Room roof, launched in October 2012, was the result of a product research and development process spanning several years, which more recently included input from Tim Harris, Prefix’s structural engineer.
According to Prefix, sales of the Garden Room roof are equally split between new installations and conservatory replacement projects, with several ‘sales savvy’ installation companies enticing old customers with the option of upgrading to a new garden room. The potential in the UK is considerable with an estimated three million existing conservatories, of which 500,000 are estimated to be in need of repair.
Prefix also maintains that thanks to the products developed specifically for replacement projects, installation companies such as Manchester based T&J Conservatories have been able to take on sales opportunities with the necessary structural posts and supports, including Prefix’s exclusive Retro-fix system.
Chris Baron and Chris Cooke, co-directors of Prefix Systems, commented: “The first 12 months have been a whirlwind in terms of interest and sales. Our Garden Room roof has not only been designed by a structural engineer and industry roofing specialist, but it has recently been praised by a group of chartered engineers and building surveyors. 2014 looks set to be a great year for this product, with more exciting developments to come and with greater customer support than ever.”
