Edgetherm RS is the new rigid spacer from warm edge expert, Edgetech. According to Edgetech, Edgetherm’s innovative design seeks to overcome one of the biggest flaws of more conventional products.
Over time, claims Edgetech, strong winds or sharply fluctuating temperatures can exert a pumping motion on IGUs, causing PIB sealant between the spacer and glass edge to migrate into the unit. PIB is hugely important to ensuring unit durability over time – and the more PIB movement that occurs, the more likely a unit is to fail. Edgetech says that Edgetherm RS has been specifically designed to prevent that migration.
Devised and manufactured in the UK, the product’s innovative side-groove contains the PIB and channels any movement towards the secondary seal, not into the unit itself. That same groove also allows for easier, more consistent PIB application, which in turn leads to higher productivity and reduces the potential for human error.
