The Glass & Glazing Federation (GGF) has announced two senior promotions, with Ben Wallace stepping up as GGF managing director from his previous role as head of membership, and Lauren Mawford taking on a newly created position of GGF head of operations after two years as group health, safety and environment (HSE) manager.

Ben has been present at GGF meetings since 2012 and has held roles within the group’s technical department in addition to his time served as Head of Membership. A company statement said “this experience accrued at the heart of the federation gives him an unrivalled perspective and a unique ability to understand the needs of the GGF community”.

Ben said: “I’m incredibly proud to take up my new position as managing director and I’m looking forward to applying all my experience to support GGF members, further develop the Federation’s value proposition and attract new members.

“I’m also excited to work more closely alongside the senior leadership team on the development and execution of Group Strategy, which is a vital piece of work that will enable the GGF to introduce innovation, implement change and grow in the coming years.

“The clarity and direction provided by Group Strategy is particularly important for the GGF but also the ongoing support we provide to our valued members.”

The statement added that Lauren, who joined the GGF in July 2022, has also made a significant contribution to the federation as group HSE manager.

This has included gaining ISO 14001 Accreditation, creating a new, internal health and safety management system and helping to guide members with their own health and safety programmes.

She was also instrumental in developing the GGF’s ‘Managing Safely in the Glass and Glazing Industry’ Health & Safety Course, the first of its kind, and one that has been fully endorsed by the world-renowned Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

Lauren said: “I continue to thoroughly enjoy my career at the GGF and I am delighted to now have the opportunity to apply my previous operational skills, knowledge and experience to the new role of head of operations.

“I look forward to seeing the federation go from strength to strength with the support of the new GGF managing director, Ben Wallace, and the rest of the GGF Team.”
