Window industry veteran Andrew Scott, founder of Purplex Marketing and Insight Data, has sold his media and events company, Business Leader, to Richard Harpin, founder of HomeServe. Business Leader was launched in 2012 to inspire, connect and inform the UK’s entrepreneurs, Andrew explained. It has a portfolio of media solutions and large-scale events, including the Business Leader Awards.
“What started as a spin-out publishing business 11 years ago evolved into the leading media platform for entrepreneurs in the UK, with a circulation list of over 350,000 contacts,” he added. “I will continue to keep my hand in the venture with Richard Harpin as my new business partner, however my heart has always been in the window industry, and I’m excited to focus back on my core businesses.”
Andrew launched Purplex in 2004 after previously acquiring, building and selling several window companies. He was best known for executing the marketing strategy that grew Cambrian Windows from £1m turnover to £12m in 36 months, before it was acquired by the US Fortune 500 company, Masco.
Today, Purplex supports more than 150 clients with expert digital marketing, PR and comms and brand strategy while Insight Data provides market intelligence and business data to over 800 firms across the industry. Andrew is also founder of the Glazing Summit, the industry conference he launched in 2017 to bring together glazing industry business owners and leaders to connect, learn and share best practice.
“The industry has faced a very turbulent time over the last couple of years and I am looking forward to rolling my sleeves up and really supporting and guiding our clients,” said Andrew. “Consumer attitudes are changing, and marketing strategies that worked well three years ago will not necessarily work well today. Marketing must continue to evolve.”
