The founder of Senior Architectural Systems, who invented the Pure system, attended a presentation ceremony at Buckingham Palace last week, to receive the Kinds Award. The Pure system was named as one of the first ever winners of a King’s Award for Enterprise, in April. Awards were presented on 27 June.
Senior’s founder and the inventor of the Pure system, Lennart Jonsson, represented the company at the ceremony, which was attended by other winners of the 2023 King’s Award for Enterprise, and King Charles III. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, environment secretary Therese Coffrey and business and trade secretary Kemi Badenoch attended the reception dinner.
“It was a real honour to visit the palace and meet our fellow award winners as we came together to celebrate the success of different businesses from across the country,” said Lennart. “Senior has been at the forefront of the UK aluminium fenestration industry for over 30 years, and this was definitely one of the biggest highlights of our journey so far.
“We are incredibly proud of our unique Pure aluminium system and it’s wonderful to see the range, and the talents of all of the people here at Senior that have helped to create it, recognised with such a prestigious award.”
Senior is one of 148 organisations nationwide to have received a King’s Award for Enterprise, which recognises and celebrates business excellence across the UK. The scheme has four categories: innovation, sustainable development, international trade, and the promotion of opportunity through social mobility.
The Pure system from Senior has been awarded the honour for innovation category, thanks to its highly-efficient expanded polyurethane (PUR) thermal barrier, which is said to allow the system to offer ‘exceptional’ thermal performance. The Pure aluminium window can achieve U-values as low as 0.71W/m²K when calculated as a commercial CEN Standard window.
The system also offers cradle-to-cradle recyclability; even the PUR thermal barrier can be reused. For more information, visit the company website.
