Leaders of the UK’s PVC-U systems Liniar have opened a new mixing plant in Denby, Derbyshire. Liniar is a subsidiary of Quanex.
The plant was officially opened by Scott Zuehlke, Quanex’s senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer, and Mark Livingston, vice president, chief accounting officer and controller. The £3m facility mirrors the footprint of Liniar’s existing PVC-U mixing plant, and the two are set to run in tandem, using the very latest technology to seamlessly switch between rigid and foam PVC-U mixes, for optimum efficiency.
The build and fit out took just over 10 months. The twin mixing plants are said to offer the largest PVC-U mixing capacity in Europe. “The completion of our new mixing plant allows us to increase capacity and enhance operational flexibility – both of which ensure that we can continue our growth plans without compromising on either safety or customer service,” explained Martin Thurley, Liniar’s group managing director.
“Building in additional headroom, ahead of the requirement to do so, is a proven business model for Liniar and helps to assure Liniar’s continued customer service excellence as output increases. I’m delighted the timing has worked to enable Scott and Mark to perform the official opening ceremony for the new mixing plant. Quanex’s support enables us to continue to make further investments in our facilities, teams and logistics, all with sustainability in mind to reach our net zero target.
“I’d also like to give a special mention to the Liniar team that managed this important project. Last year was one that had lots of external supply chain pressures to navigate, many of which could have easily affected the deadlines. With a well-executed plan, they have not only delivered our world-class mixing facility on time and on budget, they’ve achieved this with virtually no disruption to the wider Liniar team and site.”
Leaders of Liniar are embarking on the next phase of the business’ site expansion, adding a 350,000ft² warehouse and manufacturing facility, this year. The move is set to further enhance Liniar’s customer service whilst bringing employment opportunities to the area.
