Livingston FC’s manager officially opened Window Supply Company (WSC)’s new head office and manufacturing site in Whitburn, West Lothian, on 22 September. The company relocated its headquarters and manufacturing operations to Whitburn, in central Scotland, after having outgrown its original facility in Houstoun Industrial Estate, Livingston.
The major relocation project required a complete renovation of the almost derelict former Levi’s site. With the support of local tradespeople, WSC staff have transformed the facility into a factory that employs more than 160 people.
WSC’s representatives invited suppliers, local tradespeople and members of the local community along to its open day, to celebrate the opening. Among the supplier representatives were staff of Derby-based systems company, Liniar, alongside its sister company, Avantek Machinery. Staff of Abacus Agents, Soudal, Kubu smart technology and Hurst also attended. Suppliers were able to speak directly to WSC customers and showcase new product developments, run live product demonstrations and provide free giveaways.
Guided tours of the 105,000ft2 site ran all day, showcasing the machinery and technology that will enable WSC to increase manufacturing by 250%, according to leaders of the business. As WSC sponsors the local boys’ club, Whitburn FCA 2009’s, the team was invited along to the event to tour the new head office, meet company directors and take part in a photo opportunity. The company painted the factory walkway the same colours as the team’s strip.
Martin Linden, the operations director responsible for the project, said: “The results of all the hard work that has gone into transforming our new head office and manufacturing site are phenomenal. We are grateful to all the local tradespeople involved in what has been a huge project.
“The open day event was a fantastic platform to bring together not only our key customers and suppliers but also welcome members of the local community. As a major employer in the area, we are keen to take an active role in supporting the local community.”
